As a result of the courage, desire, and enthusiasm of its founder, Luis Noé Fernandez, Alimerka S.A. was established as a company with entirely Asturian capital on December 28, 1986. Just three months later, on March 10, 1987, the first supermarket opened on Sargento Provisional Street in Oviedo. At that time, Alimerka had only 14 employees. Today, it is the leading private company in Asturias, creating the most jobs, with nearly 5,600 professionals—a 10% annual workforce growth—working in the Llanera logistics plant and in the 173 Alimerka stores located in Asturias, Castile and León, and Galicia.
